Again I want to say for all the newbies out there don’t be afraid to challenge yourself. You wont get anywhere if you don’t. I am 65 years old and still taking on challenges. The old saying “if you aren’t learning everyday you aren’t learning” I will say there is a big difference from being book smart and being able to actually performing in the real world. I know at this point all the old salts are going away, that is why I wanted to start this blog. I worked in this industry for 6 years before I ever went to school. I had first of all the desire to learn and was very fortunate to have 2 very knowledable people to learn from. When I did finally go to school I got certified in Mercruiser and was very close to getting a masters in OMC.
Just a suggestion to all you newbies, you will never know everything I am still learning myself Technology waits for no one! Just be humble(because you will never know everything) and find someone to help you.
Sorry I got off on a tangent (its just how passionate I am about this industry)

Anyway I just took on a job on a boat I have never heard of( Marsek). I had to replace the aft water tank because it was cracked. ( Again not afraid to take on this challenge)
I took on this challenge and succeeded and got more work from it. Again I didn’t learn how to do this from a book. Just years of experience and a passion to learn.
So I will leave you all with this : Experience is and always will be the best teacher, You have to have a passion for this business to succeed, You won’t get anywhere if you think you know it all.
